Azra’s journey
I am creating the network I wish I had .
I have been working with people and their bodies since 2007, learning about my own and understanding others. I loved using sports massage techniques, coupled with my nutritional training and my understanding of how the body holds tension and stress … I combined these and knew I could deeply help people on a number of levels.
I had my own injuries that were helped enormously by osteopaths and so underwent the master’s degree and qualified in 2012 from the ESO with an undergraduate training in pregnancy and postnatal care and infant and child care.
I have been greatly influenced by my work at the Littlejohn Centre in Ireland, a classical osteopathic practice with the health of families at the heart of its values. I count my mentors Liz O’Neil and Chris Campbell as key influences/ educators/. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their guidance.
We worked closely with a team of psychotherapists supporting people with their physical and emotional expressions of PTSD AND CPTSD. As a part of my training, I also followed this programme and continue to do so, to this day , with my own clinical supervision and continuous bodywork and self-reflection. It is a lifelong journey.
Solus has grown from a desire to work in community with others, supporting women and children during the most vulnerable times in their lives.
During my own pre- and post-natal time, I came upon many difficulties that I didn’t feel prepared for- even with having worked in this arena for a decade prior!
The monumental changes in my physicality, physiology and on an emotional and spiritual level were often dismissed and minimised by those providing care around me.
I am creating the network I wish I had
Many of those working here at Solus have worked with me during part of their health journey- they know how I work and the ethics and values I hold dear to the foundation of my support for others.
I am focussing my support now on women’s health across the ages, especially chronic complex pelvic pain.
I support pre- and post-pregnancy changes. I offer mother and child packages and support infant feeding issues, colicky presentations, movement difficulties among many others, with referrals to and from IBCLCs in Fife, the home birth network, doulas, etc.
I have experienced full-term births, C-section and home birth VBAC, miscarriages, termination, breastfeeding challenges - tongue-tie issues, repetitive thrush, tandem feeding, feeding aversions, hormonal depletion issues, and now entering into perimenopause education and support.
I have deep dived into all of these topics and more. I found the support and understanding severely lacking from the medical system and began to develop my own support network- here at Solus, I offer you what I found to be deeply healing and transformative.
I love to educate and empower the people who come to see me: how and why their bodies work this way, and how we can support them in changing.
I will be honest and gently direct. If I can’t help you I will refer you to someone who I think will be better suited to you.
Our body’s state is a physical manifestation of our emotional state.
Women deserve education, empowerment, and choice
Solus is a space run by women for women; yes, men are welcome … they tend to want to be nurtured and are interested in exploring their more feminine nature.
